Dreamscape – my new edition landscape painting

This is a new edition to my Dreamscape family of paintings. This landscape is painted in oil on an 18”x 24” birch panel. The dreamscape started off as a simple painting that was meant to be a sample for a much larger commissioned painting that was ordered from me by a collector. However during the process I so enjoyed the way the painting was progressing that I decided to do a little experimenting with color and brush strokes. I am always looking for ways to push the way I see and feel the subject matter. I love the way a single leaf on a tree can be described in a single brush stroke. I love finding the simplicity in a painting, and at the same time achieving complexity in design and color. Much like crafting a fine complex wine but starting with something as simple as a beautiful grape. Of course it all starts with love. Love for the oil paint and the brush, and what can be achieved utilizing these age old tools. No computers needed.Landscape painting

Sasha T. ‘My education’ by Solange Sheppy

To Continue to Learn to Be an Artist, One Must Find and Become a Teacher: Schooling Sasha Toporovsky

“In school, I could hear the leaves rustle and go on a journey.” Clint Eastwood

Many of Sasha T.’s fine works of art are, as he dubs, “dreamscapes”- a single scene encompassing a seamless, effortlessly blended collage of subjects and backdrops never found together naturally. Sasha T. celebrates his artistic gifts and relishes the opportunity to illustrate the world’s beauty in uncommon ways, from creative angles. In order to stay at the cutting edge of his industry, he always devotes time to perfecting his craft. A few months ago, he contacted a hero of his, hoping to learn practical tools from one of the most commercially successful artists of his time. Two days a week, Sebastian Capella offers his students technical assistance and new philosophical perspectives to help them grow as painters, and develop their own unique signatures.

“Example is the school of mankind, and they will learn at no other.” Edmund Burke

Sebastian Capella is a world-renowned painter who motivates himself through a restless desire for improvement. Considered a “modern master” in his field, he teaches private classes in his La Jolla, CA studio and has a loyal following of gifted disciples he’s developed over the past 30 years, like Sasha. Attracted to Capella’s brushwork, choice of color combinations, and his respect for the constantly evolving sport of imitating the whimsical and realistic characteristics of space and light, Sasha enjoys his lessons with the great.  Contrary to many teachers, Capella advises to “think more, paint less”, encouraging his students to spend more time in contemplation and visualization than on the canvas. This theory and practice, at play in the imagery in Sasha T.’s Fine Art, translate beautifully into the patron’s psyche, asking the eye to tell the brain to switch gears, from the logical to the imagined. The viewer is at once transported into the realm of transcendental and therapeutic thought, upon gazing at one of his dreamscapes.

“I am not going to buy my kids and encyclopedia. Let them walk to school like I did.” Yogi Berra

Sasha’s experiences within his formal art education have not always been such a dream-come-true. Actually, he had a piece of art stolen from a professor who was notorious for thievery of his students’ ideas and projects. It was not until after college that he delved into both the professions of fine art and decorative art. He started out as a “scenic artist” creating sets for plays like “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” that tours the country and returns to the Old Globe Theater in San Diego each holiday season. Sasha admits openly, “I am proud to be a paint prostitute. I’ve been accepting money for my expertise and services for 17 years.”

“Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school.” Albert Einstein

Working toward becoming world-renowned in his own right (and invited to create commissioned masterpieces for dignitaries from every nation), Sasha is a part of two incredible, goal-oriented communities: He is a member of a mastermind group of professionals that meets weekly for personal and business development. And, he is a recent graduate from the Dame DC Cordova’s Money & You® program. He is driven by a relentless need to gain insight on how to provide an even greater value to his clients and the global marketplace.  He firmly believes as John Locke eloquently states, “the improvement of understanding is for two ends: first, our own increase of knowledge; secondly to enable us to deliver that knowledge to others.”  He hopes to spiritually and intellectually engage his audience and provide a respite from preconceived notions of what is possible through his art.

Art Downloads: The Future of Experiencing Art

As we move further into the 21st century. I often wonder how people are experiencing art these days. There are more galleries and museums now than ever before, but are we visiting these places more than ever? As most of us these days,

Art Downloads

I find myself devoting a lot of time being online. After all, the world is at your finger tips. And what about the youngsters…forget it! They are more interested in texting and getting content on their phones then actually talking on them. This leads me to believe that we are more likely to experience things like art more and more through the digital world. Just look at all the apps that are available these days. As an artist I cannot escape the realization that the landscape of art and technology have merged. There are more and more online galleries and stores. Museums have gone online to attract and educate people about art as well. The internet has brought art to us at a touch of a button.

I believe that downloading your favorite artist as a screen saver or wallpaper is the wave of the future. There are no paintings to hang, and the variety is endless. This is also easy on the pocket book. Art downloads are a fraction of the price of a print or an original, and what a wonderful way to expose your children to the world of art.

This is also a new frontier in selling art for artists. Until know you only had a few options to sell your work. You could go through a gallery which marks up the price by 50% making it out of reach for most buyers. There’s always the god old fashioned art/craft show, or you could get an agent who takes a good sized chuck from your profit. The internet has changed all of that, and has put a lot more control in the artist’s hands. More and more artist are creating online stores and galleries to sell their art and prints. Companies such as Zazzle, Etsy, and Café Press are among many that let artist’s set up online stores. Internet sales of art online are up year after year, and It is my belief that cell phone downloads, as well as wallpapers and screen savers for PC’s and laptops are the new frontier in the art world.

Picasso’s missing pieces

It is always amazing what a stir rare found art makes when it is found or brought up from the shadows. Worth more then gold. Just goes to show how much we still value art as a people. Things are only as valuable as we deem them to be. Here is the news report about the missing pieces

Mastermind ~ A World of Possibilities

Into the Mystic

Into The Mystic

About a year and a half ago I was in a place in life that I did not especially like. You see I had hit a wall. At that point I had been self employed for about eight years, and although I was able to make a living, I was just barley scraping by.  I was working in my business, not on my business.

Fairbanks Ranch Mural Project

Fairbanks Ranch Mural

I painted this beautiful Mediterranean mural in the game room of a 8000 sq. ft home, in Rancho Santa Fe, CA. There are two inset panels that were painted.

The first panel is a scene of sprawling wine fields that lead down to the ocean through the foot hills. The second panel is a continuation, but leads you down into a town nestled by the sea. The ceiling was painted out with clouds, and the pillars were fauxed out to look like marble.
